European Cultural Foundation

European Cultural Foundation

The European Cultural Foundation (ECF) is an independent non-profit organisation that promotes cultural co-operation. Founded in 1954 and based in Amsterdam since 1957, the ECF aims to contribute to an open and democratic Europe that respects the basic human rights and cultural diversity of its people. Through a series of programmes and grants, the ECF aims to stimulate new trans-national ideas, dialogue, skills and experiences and to support innovative European initiatives.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the European Cultural Foundation since its creation in Geneva by cultural theorist Denis de Rougement who set up the Foundation to foster cultural co-operation Europe-wide and add a cultural and human dimension to the economic, technical and legal processes of European integration.
